Use ten frequent, regular verbs to talk about your routines, needs, and everyday activities.
Presente: lo que haces ahora y normalmente
The present works for activities you do now, during this period of life, or as part of a routine.
Rutina o situación actual
Use the present to say what you normally do and what is happening now. You do not need a time word in every sentence: Trabajo desde casa already communicates a current or habitual situation.
I study Spanish in the morning.
We buy fruit at the market.
Yo termina en -o
For these regular verbs, remove -ar, -er, or -ir and add -o for yo: hablar → hablo, comer → como, vivir → vivo.
I drink water with my meal.
I write a short message.
Verbos en -ar
Hablar, trabajar, estudiar, comprar, and necesitar follow the same present-tense ending pattern.
Terminaciones de -ar
For -ar, use -o, -as, -a, -amos, -an. The nosotros form is a useful anchor because it keeps the a: hablamos, trabajamos, estudiamos.

La terminación muestra la persona
In Spanish, you can often omit yo, tú, or nosotros because the ending already shows who does the action: compro means ‘I buy’; compramos means ‘we buy.’
I buy coffee before class.
We buy bread for dinner.
Verbos en -er y -ir
Comer, beber, and aprender are -er verbs. Vivir and escribir are -ir verbs. They share several endings, but nosotros is different.

-er uses como, comes, come, comemos, comen. -ir uses vivo, vives, vive, vivimos, viven. Notice the difference: -emos for nosotros in -er and -imos for nosotros in -ir.

La raíz se mantiene
Unlike pienso or duermo, these verbs do not change the stem vowel in the present. Learn the stem and add the appropriate ending.
I learn a new word every day.

Construye frases útiles
Choose a person, an ending, and an everyday complement. Practice with sentences you could actually say.
Persona + verbo + detalle
First identify who does the action. Then choose the ending. Finally add when, where, or what: Nosotros estudiamos en la biblioteca los martes.
My friend lives in Guadalajara.
We write the list before shopping.
Recupera, no solo leas
Choose one verb and say it in three persons: yo, nosotros, and ellos. For example: bebo, bebemos, beben. Then create a sentence with one of the three forms.
I work, we work, they work. We work near home.
Conjugaciones
Mexican usage is prioritized: ustedes is included and vosotros is intentionally omitted.
Hablar — presente
